Summary and objectives

This course is a highly interactive and demanding one. The student will be required to choose a research / study topic in agreement with his/her advisor, decide on the most relevant issues in that topic, and propose a set of relevant papers which in his/her opinion cover the most important points of the chosen topic. The adviser has to approve the topics and the paper selection. The student will have to be in close contact with the adviser in order to proceed through the selected materials. Students will be required to have very frequent contact and interaction with the adviser, frequently amounting to 2 to 3 hours per week, and devote a substantial amount of time to deepening into the selected material. Thus, only very motivated students (and, preferably, with previous research experience or with outstanding abilities) are advised to take this course and after consultation with a prospective adviser.

Topics

Will depend on the topic jointly chosen by the student and the adviser.

Evaluation

Based on the performance and advances of the student.
