UPM / IMDEA Software Institute Specialization Track in Software Development through Rigorous Methods (2013-2014)

Table of Contents

Track description

This track is a specialization within UPM's University Master on Software and Systems which focuses on techniques and tools for software development based on rigorous methods. These techniques and tools are aimed at facilitating the cost-effective development of software products with sophisticated functionality and high quality, i.e., which are safe, reliable, and efficient. The program covers a wide range of topics from analysis to testing techniques, including also formal specification, verification, programming language design and implementation, security, etc. Within all these topics, the program concentrates on approaches that are rigorous and at the same time allow building practical tools. An additional distinguishing feature of this program is the high participation of researchers from the IMDEA Software Institute.

In order to ensure the appropriate level and quality for all the courses, and maximize the learning opportunities for the students, the program has put in place measures to ensure that all students are enrolled in courses which are adequate for their level and professional career aims. To this end, all students willing to attend courses taught in this specialization must get in touch with one of the professors in charge of each such course and obtain an authorization from the professor before registering. Please see here a list of their names and email addresses.

This specialization strongly emphasizes student-instructor interaction and personal work with the instructor. Therefore it is highly advisable that students be available throughout the day to meet with professors. It is also a strong requirement that all students willing to enroll in any of the courses below have general acquaintance with programming and programming languages and good command of English.

Due to current UPM regulations, there are a number of restrictions regarding the courses that a student wishing to

obtain a masters degree

can register in.

Please write to graduate.school |at| software.imdea.org if in doubt.
