PhD Student Research Assistanships

IMDEA Software is actively seeking promising candidates for PhD Student Research Assistanships at the Institute. The assistantships provide support for applicants during their studies conductive to a Master's or, preferably, a PhD degree.

Candidates should have obtained (or be close to obtaining) an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a closely related area, with excellent grades, specially in subjects related to Programming Languages and Software Engineering.

Qualified candidates should apply online using the secure application form, and selecting the appropriate position. Candidates must fill out the application form and attach an up to date pdf copy of their CV, which must include:

In addition, the applicant should ask the three references to send a letter supporting the application separately to the same address, indicating clearly the name of the applicant to which they apply.

Support for the position takes the form of a contract, for one year initially, and renewable for 4 additional years provided adequate research progress is being achieved. Salaries vary from 18,400 to 27,600 Euros per year, depending on initial experience and increasing as progress is achieved towards a PhD. In addition to the salary, full health insurance is provided as well as other benefits.

PhD candidates holding fellowships, scholarships, or any other study grants from national or international public or private institutions are welcome and also eligible for appointment as Research Assistants, provided that the Institute approves their application and at least one Permanent Research Faculty accepts to supervise their work. In these cases IMDEA Software studies how to best combine that grant with IMDEA funds (topping up the grant salary, funding equipment or travel, etc.).

The working language at IMDEA Software is English. Therefore, candidates should have reasonable command of the English language.
