Alessandra Gorla, researcher at IMDEA Software, has been recognized with the Most Influential Paper Award at the International Conference on Automated Software Engineering (ASE 2025), held from November 16 to 20 in Seoul, South Korea. This award honors papers that, over the past decade, have had a decisive impact on the evolution of automated software engineering.
The awarded study, “Automated Test Input Generation for Android: Are We There Yet?”, authored by Alessandra Gorla (IMDEA Software) together with Shauvik Roy Choudhary (Uber Technologies, Inc.) and Alessandro Orso (University of Georgia, USA), has become a reference point for understanding how testing of Android applications can be automated, a field that has become crucial in recent years to ensure the quality of an ever-growing ecosystem. Its influence, still evident in current research, led the ASE 2025 committee to recognize it as one of the most impactful and enduring works in the area.
The award ceremony took place on November 19 during the 40th edition of ASE, one of the world’s most prominent conferences on automation in software development and maintenance. Each year, the conference brings together researchers and professionals to explore new ways of analyzing, designing, and testing increasingly complex systems.
At IMDEA Software, we extend our congratulations to Alessandra Gorla and her co-authors for this recognition, which once again positions our institute among the pioneering centers in this research field.
