Internship in Threat Intelligence using LLMs

Applications are invited to apply for an internship at the IMDEA Software Institute, Madrid, Spain under the supervision of Dr. Juan Caballero.

The internship will help developing an automated approach for collecting threat intelligence information in natural language from public sources (e.g., blog posts, Reddit) and classifying the collected information using artificial intelligence approaches, most likely large language models (LLMs).

The internship results could be part of a Master thesis. Candidates that excel may be offered a PhD position.

Who should apply?

Candidates should have completed a B.Sc. degree in computer science or a related discipline. Candidates should be enrolled in a Master’s degree program also in computer science or a releated discipline. Candidates should have a strong interest in doing research in at least one of following areas: cybersecurity, blockchain, cyber threat intelligence, or natural language processing. Python programming and tool building skills are required. Good command of English both spoken and written is required.

Working at IMDEA Software

The position is based in Madrid, Spain, where the IMDEA Software Institute is located. The institute boast one of the top computer security groups in Europe. The institute provides for travel expenses and an internationally competitive stipend. The working language at the institute is English.

Dates

The ideal duration of the position is 6 months. The tentative starting period is February 2025, with flexibility.
