Internship in Satellite Security

Applications are invited to apply for an exciting research internship on satellite security at the IMDEA Software Institute, located in Madrid, Spain under the supervision of Dr. Juan Caballero.

The intern will contribute to advancing the security of satellite systems, a critical challenge given the increasing number of satellites being launched and their importance in applications like navigation, communication, and Earth monitoring.

This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge security research and to learn about the satellite/space environment while working in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

The internship results could be part of a Master thesis. Candidates that excel may be offered a PhD position.

Who should apply?

Candidates should have completed a B.Sc. degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or telecommunications. Candidates should be enthusiastic about doing research in satellites, space, and cybersecurity. Python programming and tool building skills are required. Good command of English both spoken and written is required. Prior experience in the position areas (e.g., cybersecurity, radio communications, fuzzing) will be greatly valued.

Dates

The ideal duration of the position is 6 months. The starting period is flexibly from June 2025 to September 15, 2025.
