The IMDEA Software Institute was one of the sponsors of the eleventh edition of the “ACM Celebration of Women in Computing: womENcourage 2024”, an event hosted by the School of Engineering of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, from June 26th to 28th.
The event was aimed to celebrate the role and impact of women in computing and to support participants at different stages of their STEM careers by providing them with an international, multi-sector and multi-disciplinary forum to share experiences and knowledge, obtain constructive feedback and promote meaningful networking.
The Institute participated in a variety of ways during the Conference. On the afternoon of the first day, Assistant Research Professor Thaleia Dimitra Doudali gave a tutorial on High Performance Computing, with other colleagues from the newly created “MAR” chapter of the international organization “Women in HPC”.
The Job Fair took place on Friday 28th throughout the morning. At the fair booth, PhD students Daniela Ferreiro and Ignacio Ballesteros shared their experience and conveyed the excellent opportunities offered by IMDEA Software to those who passed by. At the same time, two of our PhD students, Elvira Moreno and Georgia Christofidi presented their posters.
Finally, the Institute’s director, Manuel Carro, was part of the last womENcourage panel on “Balancing Innovation and Ethics: Navigating the Responsible AI Landscape”.
