42 teams participated in the national programming contest AdaByron, sponsored by IMDEA Software

The Computer Science School of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid hosted the tenth final of the AdaByron programming contest that took place on July 5 and 6.

The AdaByron is a university programming contest for students enrolled in computer science degrees at Spanish public universities. Between February and April, the regional qualifying competitions for the national final took place, in which 31 universities participated.

A total of 42 teams out of 189 qualified in this edition, coming from 18 different centers.

The IMDEA Software Institute, as platinum sponsor, was responsible for paying for the participants’ lunch, had a booth near the registration table, gave the opening talk and awarded the first prize.

From the beginning of the registration until the start of the welcome ceremony, IMDEA Software welcomed the participating teams at the booth. Two hours in which researchers Margarita Capretto and Daniel Jurjo explained to the students the career opportunities offered by the Institute.

Later, during the welcome ceremony, Dr. Juan Caballero, gave a talk in which he explained in detail the areas in which the Institute works, that it is a multicultural center, all possible types of contracts and that they are fully remunerated, the possibility of traveling around the world to congresses, etc.

After the ceremony, the test session, the reading of problems and the visits to the laboratories began.

The next day, the competition went on throughout the day and at 16:00 the problem solving started followed by the award ceremony, in which Marco Guarnieri, gave the first prize to the “Pan de Pita” team from the Computer Science School of la Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
