Last Friday the IMDEA Institutes celebrated the European Researchers’ Night in Madrid at the Residencia de Estudiantes. The event entitled “Science that helps the planet” was a great success.
IMDEA Software had two great representatives. On the one hand, Manuel Carro, the director of the center, who acted as moderator together with José Manuel Torralba, director of IMDEA Materials. On the other hand, the researcher Srdjan Matic. Pablo Urrutia (IMDEA Water), Laura Marcos (IMDEA Food), Julio Lado (IMDEA Energy), Lucia Doyle (IMDEA Materials), Sebastian Thompson (IMDEA Nanoscience) and Narseo Vallina (IMDEA Networks) were also present.
The public that attended in person and virtually had the opportunity to meet our researchers up close, learn about their stories and experiences and solve all their doubts related to science. In fact, several questions asked by the audience related to Artificial Intelligence opened great debates.
During his intervention, Srdjan Matic explained that his curiosity for computers started when he was a child. His mother was an engineer and worked with them, so he had easy access to them. He started playing video games and from there he began to ask himself questions that he wanted to solve. One thing led to another and he ended up getting a PhD and doing research in computer security.
