The IMDEA Software Institute was the organizing institution of the 38th International Symposium on Distributed Computing (DISC'24), which took place from October 28th to November 1st at the Instituto de Ingeniería de España in Madrid. DISC is an international forum on the theory, design, analysis, implementation and application of distributed systems and networks.
DISC'24 was sponsored by Google and Stellar, and was organized in cooperation with the European Association for Theoretical Computer Science (EATCS). Researchers Alexey Gotsman from IMDEA Software and Antonio Fernández Anta from IMDEA Networks were in charge of the local organization of the event.
DISC'24 had 117 attendees from 21 countries, 45% of whom were students. The program of the symposium included the presentations of 39 accepted full papers and 16 brief announcements. Two prizes were awarded to the best papers: “Lock-Free Augmented Trees” by Panagiota Fatourou and Eric Ruppert, and “Hyperproperty-Preserving Register Specifications” by Yoav Ben Shimon, Ori Lahav, and Sharon Shoham.
