Internship in Blockchain Cyber Intelligence

Applications are invited to apply for an internship at the IMDEA Software Institute, Madrid, Spain under the supervision of Dr. Juan Caballero Juan Caballero.

The internship will help developing an automated approach for analyzing Bitcoin transaction data. The goal is to improve an existing platform for blockchain analysis with detection and classification approaches for specific entities that operate using Bitcoin. The candidate will learn about blockchain security, machine learning (ML), open-source threat intelligence (OSInt) and natural language processing (NLP) techniques.

The internship results could be part of an academic publication and/or form the basis of a Master’s thesis. Candidates that excel may be offered a PhD position.

Who should apply?

Candidates should have a B.Sc. degree in computer science or a related discipline. Candidates should have a strong interest in doing research in at least one of following areas: cybersecurity, blockchain, cyber threat intelligence, or natural language processing. Python programming and tool building skills are required. Good command of English both spoken and written is required.

Working at IMDEA Software

The position is based in Madrid, Spain, where the IMDEA Software Institute is located. The institute boast one of the top computer security groups in Europe. The institute provides for travel expenses and an internationally competitive stipend. The working language at the institute is English.

Dates

The ideal duration of the position is 6 months. The tentative starting period is October 1, 2024, with flexibility.
