PhD in Cybercrime Attribution

Applications are invited to apply for a PhD position at the IMDEA Software Institute, Madrid, Spain.

Selected candidates will work with Dr. Juan Caballero on the design, implementation, and evaluation of novel cybercrime attribution techniques. The project may cover malware-supported attacks on different architectures (e.g., Android, iOS, Windows, Linux, IoT), as well as the analysis of cybercriminal relationships in different ecosystems such as the Web or the Deep Web. The specific application scenario will be determined based on the interests and skills of the candidate.

The PhD research will involve a combination of data collection, data analysis, and prototype development.

Who should apply?

Ideal candidates have earned (or are in their last year of) a Master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, have a strong commitment to research, are passionate about computer security with an emphasis on systems security, and have some experience and interest in at least one of the following areas:

Good programming and tool building skills are required. Good command of English both spoken and written is also required.

Dates

The position will cover the whole duration of the doctoral studies. The ideal starting period is fall 2021.
