Internship in Website Fingerprinting

Applications are invited to apply for an internship at the IMDEA Software Institute, Madrid, Spain under the supervision of Dr. Srdjan Matic and Dr. Juan Caballero.

The internship will work on Web security with a focus on website fingerprinting. The candidate will work on the design, development, and evaluation of a framework for analyzing website fingerprinting techniques and their countermeasures. The internship will combine data collection, design, implementation, and evaluation on real data.

The internship results could be part of an academic publication and/or form the basis of a Master or Bachelor thesis. Candidates that excel may be offered a PhD position.

Who should apply?

Candidates should have an excellent MSc or BSc degree in computer science or a related discipline, or be in the process of obtaining one. Candidates should have an interest in Web security and large-scale measurements, and a strong commitment to research. Linux, Python programming, and tool building experience are required. Good command of English both spoken and written is required.

Working at IMDEA Software

The position is based in Madrid, Spain, where the IMDEA Software Institute is situated. The institute provides for travel expenses and an internationally competitive stipend. The working language at the institute is English.

Dates

The ideal duration of the position is six months. The tentative starting period is October 15th, 2021, with some flexibility.
