PhD position in Byzantine fault-tolerant consensus protocols

Applications are invited for a PhD student position at the IMDEA Software Institute in Madrid, Spain. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Alexey Gotsman on the design of Byzantine-fault tolerant consensus protocols.

Who should apply?

Candidates should have a strong background in computer science or applied mathematics.

Duration

The starting date will be July 1, 2026. The position is intended to last for the duration of the doctoral studies, which is usually four years.

The working language at the institute is English; the knowledge of Spanish is not required. The positions come with an internationally competitive stipend and support for research-related travel.
