Alejandro Recio, network technician support at REDIMadrid, participated this June in the TNC26 held in Helsinki, the annual meeting of the European research and education networking community (GÉANT), which in this edition brought together nearly a thousand professionals from the sector.
During the conference, various topics of interest for research institutions and networks were addressed, including the impact that recent regulations such as the Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act) or the European Quantum Act will have on the design and management of scientific infrastructures.
For REDIMadrid, an entity managed by the IMDEA Software Institute, attending this meeting served to learn firsthand about the latest trends in areas such as data governance, Artificial Intelligence, quantum communications, and digital sovereignty.
This meeting provided an excellent opportunity to share experiences with colleagues from other research networks such as RedIRIS or RedCLARA, and research institutions like I2CAT. There, they were able to compare the technical and strategic directions being taken in Europe and the rest of the world, ensuring that the infrastructure offered in the Community of Madrid evolves in the same direction.
After a week of conferences focused on both technical security and cross-border cooperation, the conference closed this edition in Finland, passing the torch to Belgium, which will host the 2027 meeting.
