Alessandra Gorla, Associate Research Professor at the IMDEA Software Institute, participated as an invited speaker at the sixth edition of the International Software Engineering Summer School (SIESTA 2026), held in Madrid from September 2 to 4.
The annual SIESTA summer school brings together academic and industrial researchers alongside Ph.D. students to provide a platform for learning and exchanging knowledge about the latest trends and innovations in software engineering.
Alessandra delivered a talk titled “On the Challenges of Analyzing iOS Apps”, addressing the analytical complexities and specific challenges posed by the iOS ecosystem compared to Android. While mobile app security and quality research has traditionally focused on Android, the presentation emphasized the need to extend these methodologies to the iOS environment. Furthermore, she detailed the specific challenges of analyzing iOS applications, highlighting aspects such as deployment mechanisms, system security features, and app collection processes for analysis.
