Short Bio

Georgios Portokalidis obtained his PhD in Computer Science from Vrije Universiteit (VU) Amsterdam on February 2010, He also holds an MS and BS in Computer Science from Leiden University and University of Crete, respectively.

Since 2013, he has held an Assistant and, later, Associate Professor position in the Department of Computer Science at Stevens Institute of Technology (currently on leave). Before that, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Columbia University.

Georgios has made significant contributions to the field, with numerous papers published in highly regarded systems and security research venues. His research has received support from prestigious organizations such as DARPA, IARPA, and ONR, and he was honored with the coveted DARPA Young Faculty Award, while he was also worked on multiple EU projects.

Research Interests

His research interests are mainly around the area of software systems and security.

Specifically, they are centered around enhancing systems and software security, discovering new vulnerabilities and exploitation methods, binary analysis, and the optimization of security systems.
