Ignacio obtained his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Mathematics of University of Oviedo in 2010. He then held postdoc positions at the Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and at the Department of Computer Science of Aarhus University in Denmark. In 2016 he moved to the Department of Mathematics of Aalborg University also in Denmark, where he was an assistant professor and later associate professor. In September 2019 he became research assistant professor in the IMDEA Software Institute.
Ignacio’s main research interest lies in the area of cryptography, especially secure multiparty computation, secret sharing and other cryptographic protocols. He is also interested in the connection of these topics with the areas of error-correcting codes, abstract algebra (finite fields, algebraic number theory) and algebraic complexity.
