Senior Research Project Manager

The IMDEA Software Institute is seeking a Senior Research Project Manager to administer research and technology transfer funding projects carried out at the Institute.

The candidate should have at least 15 years of proven experience in managing research and development (R&D) projects, and at least 5 years of experience in R&D projects in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). These include funding calls to which the IMDEA Software Institute applies such as (Comunidad de Madrid) Regional, (Spanish) National, European, International, and Industrial Projects with companies from all over the world.

The tasks to be carried out will be, among others:

• Detecting and disseminating to researchers funding sources among all regional, national, international, and industrial calls.
• Motivating researchers to participate in funding calls, fostering the creation of research consortia when needed.
• Coordinating the administrative and financial parts of project proposals.
• Following up the different project workplans making sure that all technical and financial deliverables are fulfilled on time and with the required quality.
• Supporting project audits.

Requirements

Candidates should meet the following requirements:

• M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in Economics or Business Administration.
• At least 15 years of proven experience in managing R&D projects, of which at least 5 years should be in managing ICT R&D projects.
• Proven experience in managing R&D funding calls from the following funding agencies: Comunidad de Madrid, Spanish National ministries, European Union, and US agencies.
• Proven experience handling projects from the European Research Council (ERC).
• Proven experience handling Horizon 2020 projects.
• Proven experience administering R&D fellowships such as Ramon y Cajal, Juan de la Cierva, FPU/FPI, Marie Sklodowsca Curie actions, …
• Fluent in English speaking, writing, and reading.
• Fluent in Spanish speaking, writing, and reading.

The following are desirable qualifications:

• Experience working in a research center.
• Experience coordinating large (multi-million, multi-partner) R&D projects.
• Experience managing industrial R&D contracts.
• Experience using version control systems (e.g., Subversion and/or Git).
• Ability to meet strict deadlines and work under pressure.
• Capable team player.
