Systems Administrator

The IMDEA Software Institute is seeking a Systems Administrator to manage the information technology (IT) systems and networks of the Institute. The candidate should have at least 2 years of proven experience in systems and networks administration.

The tasks to be carried out will be, among others:

• Maintaining and operating network equipment in a wide area network, including switches and routers.
• Helping operate all Institute’s IT systems and networks.
• Managing an automated building: access control, lightning, HAV, …
• Handling registrations and removals of Institute’s personnel in all IT systems: LDAP, databases, email, Web, …
• Server configuration and administration.
• Installing and managing applications installed in end host corporate devices: laptop, desktop, mobile.
• Web development and maintenance.
• Managing IP telephony: switchboard and phones.
• Setting up and monitoring backup systems.
• Preparing and maintaining the uninterrupted power systems (UPS).
• Manage multimedia equipment: recording of events, streaming, …

Requirements

Candidates should meet the following requirements:

• Vocational training degree in Systems Administration (e.g., FP2/Grado Superior).
• At least 2 years of proven experience in systems and network administration.
• Experience with the following technologies:
  • OS administration: Linux, Windows, and MacOS.
  • Web programming: PHP, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript.
  • Scripting languages, e.g., Python, Perl.
  • Server administration: Apache, Postfix, OpenLDAP, DHCP, DNS, Zabbix, NTP.
  • IP telephony: Asterisk.
  • Printer administration.
  • Database configuration and administration.
  • Version control systems: SVN, Git.
  • Virtual Machines administration: KVM.
  • Backup systems.
  • Multimedia equipment.
  • LaTeX.
• Proven experience in network administration:
  • IP equipment (Juniper, Cisco) and IP protocols (BGP, OSPF).
  • Wi-Fi configuration and maintenance.
  • Firewall and VPN configuration.
• Fluent in English speaking, writing, and reading.
• Fluent in Spanish speaking, writing, and reading.

The following are desirable qualifications:

• CCNA / JNCIA Routing and Switching certification.
• Experience with Building Automation Systems: KNX, DALI, LON.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines and work under pressure.
• Capable team player.
