Research intern in blockchain

The IMDEA Software Institute offers an intern position in the area of security and privacy in blockchain. The work may involve a combination of (i) design of programming languages and compilers, (ii) design and evaluation of cryptographic protocols to perform off-chain payments in the Lightning Network, and (iii) formal verification of correctness for the compilers as well as the cryptographic operations.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Pedro Moreno-Sánchez (IMDEA Software Institute) and Clara Schneidewind (Max Planck Institute for Security and Privacy).

Who should apply?

Applicants should have finished (or be close to finish) a master degree in Computer Science (or similar degree such as Diploma). Interest in cryptography, programming languages, distributed systems or blockchain is highly valued. Good command of English both spoken and written is required.

Working at IMDEA Software

The position is based in Madrid, Spain where the IMDEA Software Institute is situated. Salaries are internationally competitive and include attractive conditions such as access to an excellent public healthcare system. The working language at the institute is English. Knowledge of Spanish is not required. The successful applicant will also regularly travel to Germany to work at the Max Planck Institute for Security and Privacy.

Dates

The position has guaranteed funding for 6 months. The preferred starting date is September 1st, 2021.
