PhD student in the intersection of Systems - Machine Learning - Computer Vision

Applications are invited for a PhD student position at the IMDEA Software Institute, Madrid, Spain.

The selected candidate will work with Thaleia Dimitra Doudali.

The specific topic of the research will be determined based on the common interests of the candidate and the supervisor. Here are some potential research areas:

• [Machine Learning for Systems]
  Building systems software for managing hardware resources (compute, memory or storage) using machine learning methods.
• [Machine learning and Computer Vision for Systems]
  Exploring novel methods that mix machine learning and computer vision methods to improve upon current state-of-the-art resource management systems.
• [Systems for Machine Learning]
  Building systems software that improves the performance of application domains specific to artificial intelligence.

Who should apply?

Preference will be given to students that have earned or are about to earn their Master’s or advanced undergraduate degree in Computer Science / Engineering.

The position requires good programming and problem solving skills and proficiency in spoken and written English. A background on machine learning (course work, coding experience etc.) is not required but highly desirable.

Highlight in your resume any experience or coursework in:

• Coding (type of project and programming language used).
• Coursework related to Machine Learning, Advanced Operating Systems, Advanced Computer Architecture.
• Experience with Python and frameworks such as tensorflow, keras, matplotlib.
• List any research publications, internship projects, thesis.

Dates
