IMDEA Software Institute

The IMDEA Software Institute is a non-profit, independent research foundation, promoted by the Madrid Regional Government in Spain. It is part of IMDEA, the Madrid Institute of Advanced Studies, a network of international research centers in the Madrid region for research of excellence in areas of high economic impact.

The focus of the IMDEA Software Institute is to perform the research of excellence required to devise methods that will allow the cost-effective development of software products with sophisticated functionality and high quality, i.e., safe, reliable, and efficient. In order to achieve this goal, the Institute is gathering a critical mass of world-wide, top class researchers and providing them with an ideal research environment.

Research Project Financial Manager

The selected candidate will report to the General Manager and will be responsible for the financial management of the Foundation’s Research projects. The main duties and responsibilities include:

• Financial management of research projects, including closing of accounts, financial reports, both internal and for funding agencies, and financial justifications.
• Leading the financial audits of projects.
• Assistance in the Foundation’s financial management, including closing of accounts and accounting of all facts related to project expenses and income.

Requirements

• Candidates should hold a Master Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, or closely related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of proven experience on:
• Financial management of funded research projects, especially those coming from public project calls: Budgetary control, allocation of resources, checking eligibility of costs, audits…
• Accounting: Spanish General Accountancy System, closings, taxes, audits, inventory.
• English: Level B2.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Proactiveness; ability to anticipate situations and react ahead of time; ability to work in a team.

Valuable

• Working experience in research environments.
• Knowledge in Spanish LCSP, including contract specifications and public tenders.
• Knowledge of human resources management.

Conditions

Full time contract including social security coverage. Competitive salary, depending on previous experience and credentials.
