Software Engineer in cryptography

The IMDEA Software Institute invites applications for a Software Engineer with a specialization in Cryptography.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with researchers to work on developing and experimenting novel cryptographic protocols with applications to blockchains and decentralized systems.

Who should apply?

The candidates should have keen interest in:

• learning about cutting-edge cryptographic results (e.g., zero-knowledge proofs, computation on encrypted data) and integrating them into real software
• tackling the challenges of scalability related to implementing advanced cryptographic protocols

Requirements

• A MS in computer science, mathematics, or a related discipline
• In-depth knowledge of cryptography (e.g., has taken a university courses)
• Strong skills in math (number theory, algebra) and algorithms
• Programming experience in one or more of the following languages: C, C++, Rust
• Previous experience with implementation of cryptographic protocols
• Familiarity with the UNIX command line and developer tools (e.g., git, svn)

Familiarity with reading cryptography research papers will be considered positively.

Working at IMDEA Software

The position is based in Madrid, Spain, where the IMDEA Software Institute is situated. The institute provides for travel expenses and an internationally competitive stipend. The working language at the institute is English.

For this position, there is some flexibility in having this position full-time or part-time.

Dates

The starting date is flexible, ideally at the beginning of 2020.
